Science and Research

The research activities of the department focus mainly on the didactics of physical education for preschool and primary school children. The members of the department are involved in research projects geared to the specific areas of their specialization. The fundamental research topics addressed by the members of the Department of Physical Education include the evaluation of selected physiological and somatic aspects of movement as well as health-oriented fitness in certain population groups, as well as the innovation of didactic approaches and their implementation. The main research topics are:

1) The didactics of PE and sports, the prevention of obesity in children

2) Movement activities for preschool children and younger primary-school children

3) An intervention programme to eliminate the occurrence of leg deformities in children

The department has concluded several agreements on international cooperation and actively participates in bilateral faculty collaboration. The members of the department participate in projects of the 4EU+ Alliance and CEEPUS.
